John Donjoian

COACH

After growing up trying, and not really succeeding at a number of youth sports, John settled on bicycles. Spending his pre-teen and early teen years riding and racing BMX around the St. Louis area with unremarkable results, he then discovered the weight room after high school. Doing bodybuilding type workouts for the next decade or so (Off and on) interspersed with a lot of bicycling (Mountain bikes and road). In 1998, John founded Gateway Off-Road Cyclists non-profit to organize trail advocacy and design/construction in Eastern Missouri. After 15+ years of bicycle racing and advocacy, John discovered CrossFit in 2009.

Since then, CrossFit has become a larger and larger part of John's overall training, taking over completely around 2017 in pursuit of globally competitive CrossFit. Highlights of John's competitive CrossFit "career" since 2010 would include a 2nd place at Heart of America on a Masters Team in 2015, Qualifying and Competing at Legends in Phoenix, AZ in 2020, 2nd place at Legends in Cookeville, TN in 2022, 3rd Place at 2024 Monster Games, and 3rd Place Masters Team at the CrossFit Masters Games in 2024.
